Movies: Alien Valley

Alien Valley is a movie that was released in 2012. It is a work of fiction that follows a paranormal reality show called "Paranormal Mysteries". If you are familiar with "Destination Truth", it is the same premise about a team based in Los Angeles that travels the world in search of thing to investigate. The film attempts to account the last episode of Paranormal Mysteries, as to what happened to the cast and crew in it's last investigation.

The last investigation involves "Cattle Mutilation", and the crew investigates Colorado's San Luis Valley.
The area is known for Cattle Mutilation as well as the site of a UFO crash in the 1960s. Since then the local ranchers have been plagued with the loss of thousands of heads of cattle. Many believe that the government is involved as well as extraterrestrials. During this episode, Paranormal Mysteries has contacted a local rancher named "Joe Foster" who is willing to cooperate and allow his farm to be filmed. The group also investigates the locals, some professionals, and getting the local sheriff and BLM rangers involved as well.
Throughout the film we find out that this reality show is a farce, and to continue it's popularity many things are scripted and faked for ratings. However things take a turn for the worse toward the end when they actually encounter the source of the cattle mutilation. From the film footage we find most of the crew and cast has been stalked and killed, and in the end the BLM Officer and Cameraman are quarantined by a group working with USAF. We do get a glimpse of a feral "grey" like creature that is the cause of all this.

The film is peppered with other paranormal researcher's commenting on the validity of the footage, as well as the fate of Paranormal Mysteries cast and crew.

  1. I am getting really tired of the "found footage" genre. It has become predictable and mundane. It is an excuse to make loads do money with little overhead costs, like not having to employ experienced actors or cinematographers. Have you ever seen Meryl Streep in a "found footage" movie?
