At first I thought them to have no significance really, especially when so many other animals are associated with the phenomena (Owls, Deers, etc). However rabbit have a rather unique symbolism and history unto themselves, especially when you take into account their connection with moon. Asian and Meso-american folklore mention rabbits and the moon. In the Chinese culture, rabbits work on the moon preparing items for the immortals. While in Japan and Buddhist circles, the rabbit is remember for it sacrifice of providing a mean to a hungry immortal. In the New World, several tribes in the US venerated the rabbit for its intelligence and wisdom. It is said the rabbit bought fire to the tribes and taught them many sacred rituals. Likewise Mayan myths tell that when the creature of the universe took place, one of the gods was in the form of a rabbit when they made the moon.
Tales of rabbits could be found in the Celts and the Norse, the Greeks and Egyptians as well. Most venerating the Rabbit as attendants or companions to the gods who were concerned with fertility. Simple woodland creatures, who like most rodents multiply rather rapidly.. but connected with humanities reproductive cycle?
Is there a connection here? Human Reproductive Cycle and the Moon? Could the symbolism of the White Rabbit be something more or a warning? We even find references of White Rabbits mixed in with some strange fictions. "Alice and Wonderland", we have a child that is lured away from reality to a place away. She is tested in various ways so she realizes who she needs to become? In the movie the "Knowing", as the children are taken from there father to be saved... they find white rabbits nearby? Likewise even in ET, the first scenes focus on a rabbit right before the alien spaceship lands. There are a number of reports which mention the odd relationship. Examples (Blog One) and (Blog Two) which mention the phenomena as well.
In an early post I even mention to know someone from Ohio, who aunt was visted by Giant White Rabbits at night.
When i was a kid i saw a giant white rabbit. This was no ordinary rabbit, it was the size of an adult. I immediatly ran to tell my parents and when i tried to show them it was gone. It was not a flemming, and this thing was eating in a garden standing on its hind legs. Please respond i cant find anything on it other then abduction casses. I live in pa usa.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens is that your memory is erased of what you really saw with an image of a white rabbit. The event usually surrounds an alien encounter or abduction. It happened to me too.
